Expo 67’s Pulp and Paper Pavilion, sponsored by the Canadian Pulp & Paper Association, celebrated Canada’s rich natural resource of forestry and its crucial role in paper production. Designed by William Kissiloff of Kissiloff & Wimmershoff, the pavilion’s roofline resembled a forest, standing out between giant neighboring pavilions. Inside, visitors experienced the history of papermaking in Canada, surrounded by walls designed to mimic unrolling paper rolls. The pavilion’s poster, crafted by Ernst Roch, captured the geometric expression of the pavilion’s roofs and showcased the mathematical precision of its design. It successfully conveyed the vital impact of the pulp and paper industry on Canada’s economy while highlighting the nation’s exploration of the physical world and its drive to create and understand.
