Oval PASSED sticker similar to this was attached to virtually all camera equipment exported from Japan between the 1950s to the mid-1980s. JCII stands for Japan Camera Industry Institute, and JMDC for Japan Machinery Design Center. These stickers were attached to camera products that satisfied minimal quality requirements and were not blatant copies of German camera products of the time.

The Agfamatic-108 is a viewfinder camera for Pak-Film 126 cassettes. It has an AgfaColorstar lens with fixed focus and fixed aperture. Two shutter speeds are selectable with the ring around the lens barrel, the scale showing a cloud and a sun symbol. The camera has a single stroke advance lever that advances the film, cocks the Parator shutter, and turns the flashcube holder on which flipflashes can be fired as flash. On the axis of the advance lever is the red “sensor”, the shutter release button hidden under a round piece of red foil. A little black plastic button side on the side unlocks the back door for opening the camera. The back door has a window for making visible the film cassette’s exposure counter. Called the Circle-Eye exposure system, the lens is completely surrounded by a selenium cell (ATL) for light metering providing very accurate light readings. Since it is made for amateur photographers, it is lighter (thanks to its polycarbonate top and bottom covers and copper-aluminum alloy body), less bulky, and is far simpler to use. It has aperture priority, semi-automatic exposure control powered by a 60/40 center-weighted silicon light meter and a viewfinder that has a needle that indicated the exposure on a shutter speed scale.
