Hans Bølling, a Danish architect and the creator of Duck and Duckling was so enamoured by the story, he brought them to life for everyone to keep on their window-sill.

When the Emperor receives a mechanical nightingale, he forgets about the real nightingale which then flies away. When the emperor becomes terminally ill, the nightingale returns and heals the Emperor through it’s beautiful song. The figurine Nightingale’s colors are inspired by the beautiful Chinese nightingale.
